The Urban Tote Bag Pattern by Amy Barickman Design is a convenient tote bag that is the perfect showcase for your favorite fabric! This sewing bag pattern has interior pockets and large outside pockets with a finished size of 9 1/2"H x 15"W (this bag tapers to 9 1/2" at the bottom) x 4 1/4"D excluding handles.

Materials List:

View A - fabric version w/grommet detail

  • 1 yard fabric A (exterior side pockets, bottom, lining, handles, tabs)
  • 1/2 yard fabric B (center panel)
  • 1/3 yard fabric C (sides)
  • 1 package (18" x 58") foam batting
  • 4 square grommets with 1 1/2" inner diameter
  • 1 magnetic snap closure
  • 1" square of fusible heavy weight interfacing for magnetic snap backing

View B - steam-activated shrinking fabric center panel

  • 1 yard fabric A (exterior side pockets, bottom, lining, handles, tabs)
  • 1/2 yard fabric B (center panel)
  • 1/3 yard fabric C (sides)
  • two 15" x 14" pieces batting
  • 1 package (18" x 58") foam batting
  • 1 package of steam activated shrinking fabric (enough to cut out two 15" x 14" pieces)
  • four 1" rectangle rings
  • 1 magnetic snap closure
  • 1" square of fusible heavy weight interfacing for magnetic snap backing

View C - wonky log cabin center panel

  • 1 yard fabric A (exterior side pockets, bottom, lining, handles, tabs)
  • 1/3 yard fabric B (center panel)
  • 4 or more coordinating fat quarters for wonky log cabin center panel
  • 1 package (18" x 58") foam batting
  • four 1" rectangle rings
  • 1 magnetic snap closure
  • 1" square of fusible heavy weight interfacing for magnetic snap backing
